Boost your guest experience with mobile keys

Why digital keys are essential for your hotel

When Travelport surveyed 16,000 travelers from 25 countries for its 2018 Digital Travel Survey, it found that 50% of business travelers want to use a mobile key to unlock their hotel room keys. Also known as digital keys, mobile keys allow guests to unlock doors easily via an app on their smartphone, giving them access to their mobile room key and the hotel's security system.

By 2020, 73% of guests would download an app to give them the keys to their rooms as part of their travel plans.

Hotels can meet this need with mobile check-in technology and key mobile technology that gives guests access to their room keys via their smartphones, tablets or other mobile devices.

The mobile key can be programmed to be used at any time of the day or night, eliminating the need for a button at the hotel reception or even on the front door of a hotel room. The technology is not limited to hotel rooms, but can also be used to manage employees, visitors and suppliers who use the back door. In addition to ensuring tranquility for all those who legally access your property, the rooms of the guests are also secured.

Many hotel chains already use key mobile management systems (MMS), such as Apple's App Store and Google's Google Play Store, to provide seamless check-in options for guests, as the Coronavirus has forced hotels and hospitality to adapt to new security and operational practices.

ABOUT FLEXIPASS

FLEXIPASS has been one of the first companies in the easy-access solutions industry to understand the benefits and the advantages of a secure but convenient access using mobile key systems. To fulfill the customers’ demand for keyless access solutions, FLEXIPASS developed the world’s fastest and easiest technology on the market to access a room without physical keys. This technology perfectly integrates with the world‘s leading door lock and access providers such as ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions, Dormakaba and SALTO Systems as well as innovative PMS providers across the world, making it accessible for everyone. To reduce the number of human interactions and allow guests to access their rooms in the easiest and fastest way, FLEXIPASS developed three APP PACKAGES which fit all the customer needs.

HOW IT WORKS

FLEXIPASS app packages allows guests to download a mobile digital key and then decide whether to go straight to their room or ask for help at reception. The hotel reception can be contacted directly by the guests via the Property Management System (PMS) and secure digital keys can be handed out directly to their smartphones.  After booking, guests will receive a booking confirmation email with a link to download the mobile key app on arrival. Guests can then use it to unlock doors by holding the phone close to the door.

Upon arrival, PMS automatically informs the Mobile Key Platform about the guest's check-in and sends a secure digital key to his mobile phone.

THE ADVANTAGES OF A MOBILE KEY

By improving key digital technology, you can increase your security and security for your guests, employees and suppliers as a whole.

Pop-up banners and video walls advertising mobile keys in busy areas such as lobbies and elevators are an effective place for this type of news. Mobile keys can also be used to access other areas of the hotel, such as the lobby, lobby area and lift

While 60% of guests choose hotels that offer access to their rooms via their smartphones, guests who may not know that mobile keys are an option in your hotel will appreciate this. Hotels can also promote mobile keys through their plastic keyholders and place table covers in guests "rooms and restaurants to further increase visibility.

Studies show that two thirds of travelers want to use their mobile devices as room keys, and 46% of guests say that mobile keys are important to them.

With people always keeping their smartphones close, travelers with a mobile key have one less thing to keep an eye on. Guests may forget the plastic key, but they are less likely to forget the phone they brought with them, which also reduces the likelihood of locking themselves out.

At this point, mentioning mobile keys on your hotel's website is a great way to raise awareness and take advantage of the market. They ensure more guests download the app before they arrive at the hotel. The increasing use of mobile keys by your guests will improve their overall hotel guest experience, and it will result for your hotel in higher ROI benefits and a significant long-term cost efficiency by eliminating the expensive physical keycards.
